Entering grades 5-7:


Activity based learning will allow students to assimilate skills while enjoying a wide variety of tasks. Participants will learn what their learning style is and the basic study skills that will fit that style including but not limited to outlining, beginning note taking, studying for tests, and test taking strategies. Organization and time management will be broken down in easy to follow steps making both parents' and kids' lives easier. Learning how to approach and break down problems both in life and in school are key factors in success. Students in this course will look at and learn to break problems into their elements and plan strategies for best approaching and solving each assignment.   $ 195 tuition (two-two hour sessions)

Entering grades 10-12:


At this point in a student's education, expectations are at their highest. In this two-day intensive course, participants will identify their own learning styles including some of their key strengths and weaknesses. Once we have identified their learning styles, we will review the study and test taking skills that are essential to success in school. We will also refine these skills to better accommodate the student's individual learning needs. In addition, students will learn to identify different teaching styles and what teachers are most likely looking for. Knowing how to read what a teacher or professor is looking for and how to incorporate this information into your own work is a crucial part of long-term academic success. During this high stress hectic time, organization skills, time management and stress management can make the difference between accomplishment and being overwhelmed. A number of writing techniques that are quintessential components in a student's writing portfolio will be broken down, reviewed and drilled. Finally, your child will become better skilled at self-advocacy.

Entering grades 8-9:


During these key transition years, it is essential that students develop a solid foundation of skills and an arsenal of compensation strategies. This course will help students identify their own learning styles including some of their key strengths and weaknesses. This information is then translated into specific tools. The students learn to help overcome their weaknesses and to implement learning techniques that are specifically designed for their learning styles and needs. We will refine their outlining, note taking, writing, study skills, test taking, problem solving, time management, and organization skills.
